Is the Resveratrol Wine Excitement all Hype
or a Real Youth Serum?
| In 2003, the science world was turned almost on end when it was discovered that one of the minor ingredients in red wine, Resveratrol, may hold the secrets to extending life and combating a multitude of diseases and ailments.
While these studies show fairly conclusive results in mice, it was theorized that this effect might be reproduced in humans as well as they consume red Resveratrol wine. It also led many to people that the answer to the age old “French Paradox” might finally have been discovered. The “French Paradox” concerns the fact that while the majority population of France has a high fat diet and eats foods rich in butter and cream, they have an incredibly low incidence of heart disease when compared with the rest of the world, especially the US. The one clear difference between the diets of the French and the rest of the world is their regular consumption of wine. Once the molecule Resveratrol wine molecule was discovered and subsequently tested in mice with astounding results, it was assume that Resveratrol was the reason that the French had such healthy hearts despite their non heart healthy diets. As it turns out, however, Resveratrol wine may not be the answer to the French Paradox at all. Once all the results had come in, it seems that while the mice did respond well to injections of Resveratrol (they exhibited resistance to certain types of cancer, obesity, heart disease and in some studies even lived up to 40% longer than mice who had not been treated with Resveratrol) the amount of Resveratrol used to product results was a MUCH higher concentration than would be found in Resveratrol wine making any such results very unlikely for humans. It has since been theorized that perhaps the natural anti coagulant effects of alcohol may be contributing the French Paradox. Before you give up on resvertarol wine, hang tight, because we’re not done yet. The fact is, Resveratrol as a health giving ingredient, while not found in large supply in Resveratrol wine, still shows incredible promise. It seems that scientists may have discovered this wonder ingredient by accident and through significant testing, the results seem to point to the fact that Resveratrol may truly be the youth serum we all have been looking for.
